Clearwater, FL, May 7, 2015 – GSP, a leading provider of retail services, announced today that Regional Manager Lauren Bowers has been honored with the Top Women In Convenience 2015 Rising Star Award, presented by Convenience Store News, in conjunction with The Network of Executive Women (NEW) and an advisory board of the honorees from 2014. Lauren is among 50 women nationwide to be recognized for their achievements in the past 12 months including innovation in implementing corporate initiatives, problem solving acumen, exceptional performance and involvement in the community.
This is only the second year for the award, which was created to honor the achievements of females in convenience store retailing. Women have long held a significant percentage of the store manager positions in convenience stores. This award recognizes the great strides being made on the management side of what was once a male-dominated business. Nominations came from retailers, suppliers and wholesalers in three primary categories: senior-level executives, store managers and rising stars. Lauren is being honored as a rising star, and is the only winner from a retail agency.
Lauren has been with GSP since 2007 and has helped the company grow to its most successful year ever. Last year, she was promoted to the role of Regional Manager. She led a team of account managers and 10 national accounts. She helped introduce her clients to new automated processes by using GSP’s proprietary software solutions that eased in-store execution. She guided one of her clients through a major rebranding effort, which won an ADDY award. An effective mentor, Lauren also took five new hires under her wing and volunteered for a company task force on quality.
"It's such an honor to have my name on the same list as so many inspiring women in the convenience industry. The GSP leadership team has supported me and my career from the day I joined the team almost eight years ago and I'm so thankful for that. I've been lucky to have had so many inspirational female mentors at GSP and across the industry at large. I'm excited to continue to play a part in the evolution and rapid growth of GSP and its role in this dynamic industry."
Convenience Store News will spotlight the 2015 Top Women in Convenience in its July issue and formally present the awards at a celebration in Las Vegas in October.
