Clearwater, FL, September 10, 2013 – GSP, a leading provider of retail services, announced today they have achieved the G7® Master Printer Qualification from IDEAlliance for both the GSP Operations Florida and GSP Operations Utah facilities, for the 4th consecutive year.
GSP has achieved the G7® Master Printer Qualification for screen and wide-format digital printing, a certification achieved by less than 6% of G7® Master printers worldwide. G7® is a method for calibrating imaging devices to ensure consistency across multiple production runs for the highest quality printing regardless of print method or production facility. G7® Master status is granted to facilities qualified to use the G7 Proof-to-Print Process and uses the most modern technology, techniques and press controls to produce a close visual match from proof to print.
G7® specifies the components of an image that define a similar “visual appearance” to the human eye. To do this, the G7® Method defines a colormetric definition for gray balance, and specifies gray balance in the midtones, image weight and image contrast from the highlights to the shadows which are the factors that determine likeness of the visual appearance of an image.
The G7 Master Printer Certification involves a qualification process over several months, which involves “fingerprinting” or profiling of all screen and digital presses to G7® standards. Upon completion, digital and screen printed samples are produced and submitted to the Rochester Institute of Technology where they are analyzed for compliance. The G7® Master Printer status is audited and renewed on a yearly basis through IDEAlliance, a non-profit organization that identifies best practices for efficient end-to-end digital media workflows—from content creation through distribution.
"We are pleased to achieve the G7 qualification again this year, which enables us to provide our retail customers with superior print quality and overall peace of mind that their POP signage will print consistently and color accurate every production run—from proof to press, and press to press,” said Elaine Scrima, GSP’s VP of Operations. “In addition to maximizing our production efficiencies, G7 also ensures that our customer’s in-store consumers see a consistent color representation and close visual appearance of their offerings throughout their stores.”
